Regional Revitalization

Local governments are facing various social issues, including a declining population caused by low birth rates and an aging population, movement away from local areas, fewer job opportunities, and a shortage of financial resources. Against this backdrop, MIXI Group is engaging in regional revitalization efforts by owning and managing keirin stadiums. Keirin events are organized by the local public entities. The proceeds are channeled into funds for local governments and can be used to help maintain public facilities, which in turn contributes greatly to the region’s financial situation.
MIXI Group’s Chariloto Co., Ltd. redeveloped Tamano Velodrome and re-opened it in March 2022. Located in Tamano City (Okayama Prefecture), Tamano Velodrome stands out as the first keirin stadium in Japan to have an adjoined hotel. Guests are able to relax and enjoy watching races from their rooms during the daytime while enjoying views of the Seto Inland Sea. Tamano City has excellent access to popular tourist destinations in the Seto Inland Sea such as Naoshima (Kagawa Prefecture), and the hotel is expected to provide an ideal base for sight-seeing. We hope to establish the stadium as an entertainment hub where both locals and people from outside the region can gather to enjoy various events in the area, such as Bon-odori festivals, fireworks, and other sporting events.
In January 2022, Chariloto Co., Ltd. was selected as a candidate to redevelop and operate Hiroshima Velodrome and began the redevelopment and comprehensive management in April of the same year. Utilizing our expertise, we plan to build a space where keirin and urban cycle sports* can be united in one location, called Urban Cycle Parks Hiroshima. Utilizing our knowledge of sports entertainment, MIXI Group strives to revitalize regional communities by creating employment opportunities and boosting the economies in areas around keirin stadiums.

*“Urban cycle sports” is a combination of urban sports and cycling and generally includes wheel-based riding sports, such as BMX, skateboard, and kickbike. (as defined by Chariloto Co., Ltd.)
