MIXI’s Company Visit Program for Junior High and High School Students Celebrates 10 Years Since Launch, with Total Participants Hosted Surpassing 3,000

Ever-evolving, with online implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic and an expanded program lineup

Tokyo, Japan, April, 2025— MIXI, Inc. is pleased to announce that its company visit program for junior high and high school students across Japan, conducted as part of its sustainability initiatives, has passed the 10-year mark since the start of full-scale operation.

As part of our sustainability initiatives, we have identified eight material issues. One of them is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), through which we aim to create a society and organization where more people can thrive. Our company visit program is positioned within this effort as an initiative to help nurture the next generation, and in 2015, we established a full-fledged program to welcome students so we could share the experience and expertise we have cultivated with the junior high and high school students who will shape the future. Since then, we have offered a wide range of programs, including careers in the IT industry, engineering and programming, and design for MONSTER STRIKE, providing students with opportunities to think about their future and career paths as part of career education.

Starting with one school in 2015, we increased the number of schools we welcomed year by year. In 2020, however, the number of visiting schools dropped sharply due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even so, by making it possible to host company visits online, we worked to ensure learning opportunities were presented even when in-person gatherings were infeasible. After the pandemic, the number of visiting schools began rising again, so we expanded the program and increased the number of visits we could accommodate. As a result, in FY2024, a record 92 schools and 842 students visited our company. Over the past 10 years, we have welcomed a total of 373 schools and 3,260 students.

Student Feedback

Here are some comments from students who participated in the company visits, organized by program.

・”The office tour was fun, and it made me want to work in a place like this someday. They did more than just explain things. They really talked to us, which helped me learn more deeply about IT companies and MIXI.” (About jobs in the IT industry / 8th-grade boy)

・”I used to think programming was extremely difficult and couldn’t possibly be for me, but today’s experience made me realize that it’s something I can do too, and that really sparked my interest. It was a very positive experience.” (About engineering work and programming / 10th-grade boy)

・”I had been considering illustration-related jobs and universities as part of my future path, so this was very helpful. I had also been thinking about other options, but now I want to aim for an illustration-related career again.” (About design work for MONSTER STRIKE / 11th-grade girl)

・”After talking with Romi, I felt that things like this could really enrich our lives in the future. I think it would be fun if it could also help with travel and sightseeing guidance.” (About how the conversational AI robot Romi works and its programming / 9th-grade girl)

Comments From Schools

Our corporate visit program has been well-received, and more schools are returning year after year. We have shared comments we have received from some of these schools below.

・From the principal of Kojimachi Junior High School in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo:
“As part of our career education program, we organize workplace visits for first-year junior high school students. Students’ future aspirations are increasingly diverse, and some are interested in internet-related fields, so we are grateful for the support of MIXI, a company with a strong track record.”

・From Aoyama Junior High School in Handa-shi, Aichi Prefecture:
“When students learn that MIXI works not only on games but also on programming and social networking services, it is always one of the companies they say they want to visit. You also listen to our requests regarding the number of students you can host and the content of the experience, and your location is easy to find, so teachers can send students with peace of mind. In their reports after the visit, students write that everything they saw and heard at a major Tokyo company felt new to them and that the visit broadened their horizons. Those reports have created a positive cycle, inspiring younger students to think they also want to go.”

・From Yuasa Junior High School in Yuasa Town, Wakayama Prefecture:
“You gave a very easy-to-understand presentation about the kind of company MIXI is, and during the office tour, you included fun facts and other touches that kept the students engaged and excited. Through MONSTER STRIKE, something the students are highly interested in, they were also able to hear directly from an illustrator about the process of creating in-game character designs. By asking questions in advance about other roles at the company, they were able to learn about those as well, giving them a broader perspective.”

Going forward, we will continue to run our company visit program so that we can provide young people who will shape the future with opportunities for learning and discovery.
