MIXI launches a new benefit package equivalent to 240,000 yen per year, including a unique “innovation assistance” framework

The amount of support is among the highest in Japan, covering entertainment experiences such as live music, art, and digital content.

Tokyo, Japan, May 1, 2026—MIXI, Inc. announces that it has launched the MIXI Cafeteria Plan, a new benefit program that grants each employee 240,000 points per year, starting in April 2026. In addition to skill development, health support, childcare, and nursing care, our position in the entertainment industry has allowed us to establish a unique “innovation assistance” framework to encourage experiences that lead to new ideas, such as concerts, art, sporting events, and the latest digital content.

In the first month since the plan was launched, 44% (618 employees) of the 1,390 eligible employees (permanent, contract, and expert employees) took advantage of it. More and more employees are using this plan for purposes ranging from learning and health to innovative experiences.

Reason for Introducing the MIXI Cafeteria Plan

In April 2026, we introduced a new personnel system with the aim of supporting the efforts and growth of each employee and maximizing organizational results. This new system incorporates the concept of “total rewards,” in which compensation is viewed as an integrated whole, including not only monetary compensation such as salary, but also non-monetary compensation such as developmental support and items related to their working environment. The system as a whole is meant to provide a consistent demonstration of what we expect of employees and how they can expect to be rewarded, and encourage employees to be proactive in taking on challenges and creating results.

The MIXI Cafeteria Plan is one example where we redesigned a non-monetary compensation benefit in the renewal of our system. In the past, some employees used certain systems more than others, so we introduced this system in order for the same resources to be fairly distributed to a larger number of employees and used according to the employees’ own situation and interests.

Overview of the MIXI Cafeteria Plan

Our plan uses “Cafeteria HQ”, a platform provided by HQ Inc., and allots 240,000 points to each employee in a lump sum on April 1 of each year. In addition to being able to choose from more than 1,000 items with which the platform is affiliated, reimbursement can be obtained for a wide range of services that are not offered by the partners (e.g., small gyms and private physical therapy clinics).

The average annual allocation per employee at companies that have introduced cafeteria plans in Japan is 66,473 yen. 14.3% of companies offer 100,000 yen or more*. We award approximately four times the average, putting us in the top class.

Our Unique “Innovation Assistance” Framework

As a company that provides communication services in the entertainment domain, we believe that our employees should be exposed to diverse experiences and stimuli. Employees can build up a wealth of emotional experiences and draw on these experiences to create more appealing services and provide new value to users. With this in mind, 50,000 of the annual points can be used as “innovation assistance”, a unique framework that allows for experiences that lead to new ideas, such as going to concerts, art shows, and sporting events, or purchasing music/video content or games that incorporate the latest technology. One of our corporate values, Innovation, tells employees, “Be bold. Forge a new path and shatter expectations.” This is an initiative to support this way of thinking on an institutional level.

Plan Usage Since Its Inception

From April 1 to April 30, 2026, there were 618 users, or 44% of those eligible for the plan, with a total of 20,501,128 points used toward 2,162 items, indicating rapid widespread usage after its inception.

The top usage categories were skill development, health care, and food, with other popular categories being AI tools and learning services, medical examinations and treatments, genetic testing, and home-delivered food services and supplements. There have been 158 applications for “innovation assistance” so far. In addition to understanding industry trends, such as streaming services and games, users can also learn about designing experiences through, for example, visits to theme parks or various types of events. We see this as an indication that the plan provides a foundation for employees to keep innovating enthusiastically.

MIXI will continue to enhance its personnel systems, including employee benefits, as part of its efforts to create an environment in which each employee can thrive, grow, and remain focused on their work.

Note: In the operation of this plan, taxes are handled appropriately in accordance with related laws, regulations, and administrative notices.
