MIXI to Accelerate Company-Wide Data Integration With Databricks Data + AI Platform: Building Corporate Infrastructure for Humans and AI Agents

Aiming to create business value through natural-language data utilization and controlled operation of AI agents

Tokyo, Japan, October 13, 2026 — MIXI, Inc. announces that it has adopted the Databricks Data + AI Platform provided by Databricks, the Data and AI company (headquarters: San Francisco, California, U.S.; CEO: Ali Ghodsi), as its enterprise-wide data and AI foundation.

The platform integrates capabilities such as Genie, Lakebase, Agent Bricks, Lakeflow, Lakehouse, and Unity Catalog, making it possible to build and scale data and AI applications, analytics, and AI agents across the enterprise. By using it to consolidate data and create an environment where people and AI agents can analyze data together, we aim to accelerate decision-making and create business value.

■Reason For Adoption

MIXI operates communication-based services across a wide range of business domains, including sports, lifestyle, and digital entertainment. In each business, we have built data foundations suited to the service and advanced their use for analytics and machine learning. The use of generative AI is also spreading rapidly inside the company, and we are now moving from a phase of improving productivity through AI to a phase of creating business value with AI.

One of the key sources of our competitiveness is shortening the lead time from decision-making to delivering value to users, or time to market (TTM). To do that, we need a mechanism that measures and analyzes TTM across the company and feeds the findings into a continuous improvement cycle. However, as multiple businesses develop and operate independently, data has accumulated in individual departments and tools, making it difficult to compare and analyze activities across the company or objectively understand, based on data, where decision-making is being slowed down.

In addition, there was still an operational process in which employees who needed data would ask specialized teams to extract and analyze it, then wait for the results. That also added time between when a question arose and when the final decision was reached.

As generative AI and AI agents become more widely used, both people and AI need an environment where they can access data under the appropriate permissions. For highly sensitive data in particular, we urgently needed a foundation that would enable secure use while maintaining strict governance to prevent information leaks.

To address these challenges, we adopted the Databricks platform as a company-wide integrated foundation that can support data collection, integration, and analysis, as well as AI use, access control, and visibility into a single environment. Since June this year, we have rolled it out to all employees and have been preparing data with future validation and AI use across each business in mind. As one example, in MONSTER STRIKE, we have already begun using it for business results, such as accelerating the migration of the data foundation with generative AI.

■About Our Use of the Databricks Data + AI Platform

By using this platform, we will shorten TTM through company-wide data use and the controlled operation of AI agents. Specifically, we will promote the following initiatives:

  • Integrating data scattered across various businesses and internal tools, and utilizing it across the entire company
  • Strengthening the data and AI governance environment, including data permission management to safely utilize confidential data, as well as visualizing the usage and costs of generative AI and LLMs
  • Enabling employees to perform data analysis themselves in natural language without relying on specialized departments, through Genie (an AI assistant feature that derives reliable answers and actions from business data) and spreadsheet integration
  • Building and operating AI agents in a controlled environment under the same permission system as humans, where AI agents handle data processing according to their roles and human approval is integrated for critical decisions
  • Automatically measuring TTM and optimizing data-driven decision-making and business processes

By gradually expanding these initiatives, we will build a company-wide foundation where humans and AI agents can work together seamlessly from data analysis to AI utilization, leading to the creation of business value.

■Future Outlook

Going forward, we will further accelerate the development of our data foundation using this platform. Leveraging the proprietary data regarding communication we have accumulated over many years, we will advance data utilization in each business and create new experiential value in an environment where AI is a given.

Through the use of Genie and other tools, we aim to foster an organizational culture where data utilization is not confined to a limited number of specialists, but where all employees can think and make decisions themselves based on data. Furthermore, we will establish a mechanism across the company to improve TTM in a precise, data-based manner, pursuing data-driven AI management that allows employees to focus on high-value-added tasks such as consensus building and creativity.

・Comment from Junpei Yoshino, Corporate Officer and CTO of MIXI, Inc.
“Our goal is to create an environment where humans and AI agents can access the data they need, with the appropriate permissions, and without any waiting time. We will enable employees to directly query data in natural language and take action on their own, without having to request analysis from specialized departments and wait for responses. At the same time, rather than giving AI agents unlimited permissions, we will establish an environment where we can verify whose authority was used, for what purpose, which data was accessed, and what actions were executed. By utilizing Databricks’ platform as a company-wide operational foundation for both humans and AI agents, we will increase the speed of decision-making by efficiently handling data that reflects real-time situations on the ground. Eventually, we aim to make 100% of our target data AI-ready. Through our partnership with Databricks, we want to not only accelerate the growth of our existing businesses but also challenge ourselves to speed up the learning cycle in new businesses, developing this into a pioneering case study of data and AI utilization on the global stage.”

・Comment from Toshifumi Sasa, President and Representative Director of Databricks Japan Co., Ltd.
“We are deeply honored to support MIXI’s initiatives to expand the use of data and AI across a wide range of fields, including digital entertainment, sports, and lifestyle, through the Databricks platform.
By consolidating analytics and AI into a single, governed platform, MIXI is breaking down the data silos that have been in place until now and enabling an environment where both employees and AI agents can leverage trusted data. This transition from fragmented systems to a unified foundation that supports future data and AI initiatives is a growing trend among forward-thinking enterprises in Japan. Databricks is helping Japanese enterprises drive this transformation and more seamlessly leverage data and AI through Genie, our AI assistant that delivers trustworthy answers and actions from business data, and Lakebase, our serverless, mission-critical Postgres database built for AI applications and AI agents.”
