■What is MIXI DESIGN CAMP?
MIXI DESIGN CAMP is a video learning series that shares the creative insights we have cultivated across our diverse products.
At MIXI, we regularly hire new graduates for design roles. In 2024, our Video Creative Division within the Design Department, which supports business growth through video-led creative work, welcomed its first new graduate hire as a video director. This led us to produce videos to articulate video creative techniques and share knowledge, and the initiative later developed into a video learning program for employees, which was launched in September 2024. We have updated this program and decided to release it publicly as MIXI DESIGN CAMP.
To contribute to technological advancement in the IT industry, we have previously made technical training materials and video content for new graduate hires in engineering available outside the company. We launched this initiative with the same goal in the design field as well: to help raise the creative capabilities of the industry as a whole and support the next generation.
Today, people of all professions and generations, not just designers, casually shoot and edit videos and enjoy posting them on social media. However, it can still be difficult to learn video production systematically from scratch, and there is a certain barrier to getting started. With MIXI DESIGN CAMP, we set out to create content that people can enjoy while learning by distilling the knowledge we have built up into clear, easy-to-follow videos that teach the fundamentals.
■Learning Content
In this learning content, design professionals at MIXI serve as instructors and offer courses built around a wide range of real-world examples from projects they have worked on, including MONSTER STRIKE, FamilyAlbum, FC TOKYO, and CHIBAJETS. With the site launching today, more than 50 courses are now available to watch for free, covering everything from the basics to advanced techniques in video production across six categories: planning, pre-production, filming, editing, CG, and marketing. Going forward, we are also considering adding new courses in areas such as design and UI/UX, in addition to video production.
The site uses a fun design so learning does not feel intimidating. The key visual elements use colors and shapes to represent people from diverse disciplines collaborating on creative work. The UI/UX is also kept simple, with all courses displayed in a single list to minimize the effort required to access and watch the courses.
Going forward, through a variety of initiatives, including the public release of MIXI DESIGN CAMP, we aim to contribute to improving technical capabilities across the design industry and nurturing the next generation of creators.
