Tokyo, Japan, July 10, 2025 — MIXI, Inc. will support Digital Gakuensai 2025, an event where junior high students, high school students, and other young creators showcase their digital technologies and creative talents. The event will be held on July 19 and 20, 2025 at the EXPO Messe venue of Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. MIXI will exhibit a corporate booth at the venue. In addition, Tatsuma Murase, a director and senior corporate officer at MIXI, will serve as a judge for the Digital Gakuensai award “S×PARK” during the event.
About Digital Gakuensai 2025
Digital Gakuensai 2025 is an event hosted by Digital Learning Experience, based on recommendations from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, with the aim of fostering the next generation of digital talent and creating a national platform to showcase their works. The event will be held at EXPO Messe WASSE at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, offering junior high students, high school students, and other young creators from across Japan their first chance to share their achievements in areas such as programming, video production, design, game development, and inquiry-based learning.

MIXI’s Support for and Participation in Digital Gakuensai 2025
We have undertaken a variety of initiatives to help develop the next generation of IT talent, including supporting the National Information Education Contest, providing programs for Girls Meet STEM (a hands-on STEM program for junior high and high school girls), and offering project-based learning focused on corporate challenges at HR Koto Gakuin.
At the Digital Gakuensai, young people’s efforts are showcased to society, promoting interaction across generations and fields. Since this aligns with our mission of providing space and opportunity for truly meaningful connections, MIXI has decided to support the event as a way to help nurture future talent.
As part of this initiative, we will also exhibit a corporate booth at the venue, where visitors can explore and experience cutting-edge technologies and workshops. Through MIXI Selfie Cam, an interactive experience built around the shared experience of watching sports, we will showcase the potential of technology to enrich human connections.
This camera is an interactive installation reconfigured for an exhibition setting based on the technology behind Booster’s Cam, which was introduced at home games for the professional basketball team CHIBA JETS. By instantly projecting footage captured on spectators’ own smartphones, it offers a new experience that transforms the act of watching the game into an opportunity for communication.
We will also have an exhibit where visitors can experience conversations with the new Romi Lacatan model, a conversational AI robot developed and marketed by MIXI.
This model is a next-generation conversational AI robot equipped with visual capabilities and long-term memory, which enables more natural and empathetic conversations. Visitors can experience the potential of technology in everyday communication through an early hands-on experience with this model, which is currently available for pre-order.
In addition, we’ll have a booth showcasing our development culture and workstyle, along with a career information corner. It will give students and educators a real sense of what it’s like to work at MIXI.
Furthermore, Tatsuma Murase will serve as a judge for the next-generation tech award S×PARK for concepts that integrate technology and creativity. He will conduct on-site evaluations of the exhibited works as well as attend the award ceremony on July 21st at the Knowledge Theater in Grand Front Osaka, North Building.
We will remain committed to supporting the development of the next generation, who will one day lead the future.
Comment from Tatsuma Murase, Director and Senior Corporate Officer of MIXI, Inc.
We are now living in an era where AI is part of everyday life, and people can explore its potential in their daily lives. As students growing up with AI, you are at the center of this major shift as the AI-native generation. As technological progress becomes increasingly intertwined with everyday life, you are in a position to take on new creative challenges.
In the society ahead, it will become increasingly important not just to use AI effectively, but to combine it with imagination and creativity to generate new forms of expression and new questions. As individuals who think and evolve alongside AI, how you engage with this era of change will be key to unlocking new possibilities.
For MIXI, guided by our “User surprise first” approach, the theme of AI and communication represents a challenge to enrich the relationship between technology and human connection. We are truly honored to present our work alongside student creators at Expo 2025, where people from around the world gather to discuss the future, and to share the possibilities of communication in the next era.
Through exhibits like MIXI Selfie Cam and Romi Lacatan, please come experience just how far technology can broaden human connection.
I’ll also be at the booth on the event days, and I’m looking forward to hearing your questions and ideas firsthand, talking about what the future could look like, and turning our excitement into something real together.
