Creating a Comfortable Work Environment

Work System

Marble Work Style

In July 2020, we began to experiment with what we call “Marble Work”, a new style of working that combined remote and office work. We officially implemented this style in April 2022.

In April 2023, we further expanded our work style by implementing “Marble Location”, in which employees can work at the location of their choice during a fixed period. In addition, we have removed core hours from our flextime system, and officially introduced full-flex work hours in April 2026.

Our goal is to maximize productivity while respecting the varied lifestyles and values of our employees.

This system was introduced on a trial basis from July to October 2022 and has been confirmed to meet a certain level of effectiveness and demand. As no major problems were foreseen, we decided to formally implement this system.

Leave Systems

■ Reserve Leave
MIXI introduced a reserve leave system in April 2021. This system allows employees to accumulate up to 40 days of expired paid leave for future use. There are no restrictions on the number of days that an employee can use this leave*. Reserve leave can be used for injury, illness, celebrations, bereavement, family planning activities, and family care. As of April 2025, reserve leave can also be used when taking care of children whose classes are temporarily suspended (such as during an infectious disease outbreak), and when attending a child’s entrance or graduation ceremonies (including those for preschool and kindergarten).

As part of our commitment to creating a comfortable and supportive work environment, we endorse the concept of a living wage that ensures stable livelihoods for our employees. We also ensure proper payment of wages when using annual paid leave, and will continue building an environment where every employee can work comfortably.

Mandatory (Age-Based) Retirement System

In conjunction with the expansion of the work and leave systems, the mandatory retirement age was raised to 65 years old and the maximum age for reemployment after retirement was raised to 70 years old as of April 2023.

Supporting Families

Childcare

Maternity Leave, Childcare Leave, Shortened Working Hours
So that employees don’t have to worry about balancing work and childcare following maternity leave, employees can take childcare leave until the child is two years old. And with shorter working hours, they can focus on childcare until the child reaches the end of the third grade of elementary school.

Assistance With Sick Children and Babysitting
For those with children that aren’t old enough to enter elementary school, we subsidize 50% of the cost when they use childcare services such as care for sick children, babysitting companies, and family support services during work hours.

Nursing Care
Employees may take nursing care leave in accordance with the Act on Childcare Leave, Caregiver Leave, and Other Measures for the Welfare of Workers Caring for Children or Other Family Members. In addition, the company has established in its employment regulations a provision for shortened working hours for nursing care, which allows employees to reduce their daily working hours to six hours, or as otherwise agreed upon by the company and the employee.

Cafeteria Plan
In April 2026, we introduced a cafeteria plan to better provide an environment where employees can focus on their work with peace of mind. This plan is designed to accommodate the diverse needs and lifestyles of our employees, including childcare, nursing care, household support, and personal health. Each employee is given 240,000 points annually (equivalent to 240,000 yen), which they can use on a wide range of benefits from a predefined menu based on their individual situation and needs. tailored to their individual circumstances. Examples of such include the following.

  • Childbirth and Childcare: Subsidies for baby and childcare products, prenatal and postnatal care, childcare for sick children, and babysitting services
  • Work-Life Support: Subsidies for babysitting services and household support
  • Nursing Care: Subsidies for expenses related to family caregiving
  • Healthcare: Subsidies for medical treatment, comprehensive health checkups, gym memberships, and health-related food products and bedding

Internal Communication

To make it easier for employees with children to communicate with each other, employees have created a “kosodate” channel in the “Slack” communication tool to freely exchange information and experiences on child-rearing.

In addition, several times a year, a “Childcare Goods Exchange” is held in an office seminar room during lunch break. Employees who no longer need items such as children’s clothes, toys, shoes, consumables, etc. as their children grow up are asked to bring them to the exchange for anyone who needs them. The event is held during lunch break so that employees can interact with each other freely over lunch.

Office

MIXI relocated its head office to Shibuya Scramble Square in March 2020.
The concept for the new office was “For Communication”. Furthermore, to realize this concept, we have established three roles and designed our facilities and environment to fulfill each of these roles.
